We are a circle of self-empowered practitioners living a magical lifestyle rooted in the Sylvan Tradition — now flowering in the soil of the Sonoran Desert. Like the Ironwood tree, we grow slowly and with intention. We endure heat. We offer shade. We create ecosystems of resilience and belonging.
Ironwood Grove is young, vibrant, queer-affirming, forward-thinking, and devoted to embodied gnosis. We blend modern psychological insight with ancient magical practice. We work with moon cycles, desert spirits, the fey, and the living current of this land.
A Grove of the Sylvan Tradition in the Sonoran Desert

This is not a drop-in circle. It is a grove for those willing to root. Here, learning happens through lived experience. Rituals are created fresh. Insights are discovered, not handed down. Growth cannot be rushed or checked off a list — it must be integrated into daily life.
Over time, something remarkable occurs:
The world begins to make sense.
Your natural gifts reveal themselves.
The cycles of nature become intimate and familiar.
And what once felt strange or isolating becomes sacred and sane.
Would you walk the Sylvan path as it lives and breathes in the Sonoran Desert? Then come grow with us.
What is a Coven?
A coven — from covenant — is an intentional gathering of practitioners who commit to growing together within a shared magical current.
Ironwood Grove is:
An experiential community of practitioners rooted in the Sylvan Tradition
A place of embodied practice, not performance
A queer-affirming and inclusive sacred space
A grove that honors individuality while amplifying collective power
A circle where psychological maturity and magical depth grow together
Ironwood Grove is not:
A casual meetup or drop-in
A substitute for therapy or family
A church following a single authority
A checklist-based training program
A space for passive participation

The Sylvan Tradition in the Sonoran Desert
Sylvan means “of the forest.” Traditionally, we look to forests as models of thriving systems — diverse, interdependent, regenerative.
The Desert Ironwood Tree (Olneya tesota) grows in one of the harshest climates in North America. It survives extreme heat, long drought, and shifting conditions. Yet beneath its canopy, life flourishes. Seeds germinate. Animals shelter. Entire ecosystems are born in its shade.
Ironwood Grove embodies this desert expression of Sylvan wisdom.
We honor non-corporeal beings, spirits, and energies. We acknowledge the fey — not only of forest glades, but of wind, stone, cactus bloom, and monsoon storm.
Rituals are created fresh each time. Words may be extemporaneous. Beliefs may vary. What binds us is experience.
We do not ward against the land.
We do not guard against the sacred.
We assume the earth itself is aligned with life.
As the forest thrives, diversity increases.
As the desert endures, resilience deepens.
Ironwood Grove stands at the meeting point of these truths.

In this tradition of witchcraft, there are no boxes to check to “advance.” Advancement is measured in integration — how you live your magic in your life: your energy, your relationships, your work, your body, your speech, your choices.
We meet at the full moon, dark moon, and the eight sabbats. We cast circle. We welcome deity. We work with the fey. We honor the desert as sacred and alive.
Ironwoods do not grow quickly — but once matured, they become shelter and anchor for entire ecosystems. So it is with this grove.

About the Founder & HP
Ironwood Grove was founded in Tucson, Arizona by Birch, High Priest in the Sylvan Tradition and co-founder of Spectrum Grove. After years of practice, the tradition has taken root in the Sonoran Desert and is shaped by place, climate, and community. Ironwood Grove continues the Sylvan current while allowing it to grow in desert soil — resilient, experiential, and grounded in lived practice.
